Shona was born in Southern Indiana, attended high school in Portland, and at 19, moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where she lived for nearly 25 years. Wherever she is rooted, Shona draws upon her lived experience and education to support the community’s most pressing issues.
With more than 23 years in philanthropy, Shona most recently served as the Director of Partner Engagement & Investment at the Black Future Co-op Fund—Washington state’s first fund by and for Black people. Her previous roles include VP of Community Engagement and Strategy at the Community Foundation for SW Washington, Senior Philanthropic Advisor at The San Francisco Foundation, and Associate Program Officer at the Clorox Company Foundation.

She serves on the board of Philanthropy Northwest, the I5 Bridge Replacement Equity Committee, and several arts organizations.
She holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA in Corporate Social Responsibility from Mills College. Shona lives in Vancouver, Washington, with her partner, Kelvin.
